Melbourne: 'Big and beautiful'

I've just been sitting out on the fire escape praying. I had a Bangladeshi candle I got today at Oxfam. I find that lighting a candle when I pray gives me something to concentrate on, so I don't end up just daydreaming.
Candle on the fire escape
At one point I heard a window opening, and turned to see someone sticking her head out of a window of the Vic Hotel, looking at me. I decided to just keep sitting there praying. A couple of times I looked over there again and she was still there, but then I could only see her silhouette.
Eventually she said, 'Hello.'
I said, 'Hello.'
She asked, 'Are you happy?'
I said, 'Oh, reasonably. How about you?'
She said, 'I'm happy because I'm on holidays!'
I asked, 'Where are you from?'
I'd thought she sounded a bit English.
She said, 'Perth.'
I said, 'How are you finding Melbourne?'
She said, 'Big. Big and beautiful! Goodnight!'

A lot of Perthicans have South African accents, which can (sometimes, to me at least) sound vaguely English.

...

But then they keep talking and you realise that no, they are very, very South African.

I have a feeling that none of what I just said was even remotely enlightening.
